A symposium celebrating Italian theater and its symbols was held today during the activities of the eighth session of the festival Sharm El Sheikh International Youth Theater This was in the presence of artist and director Mazen Al-Gharbawi, founder and president of the festival, Raffello Pentangelo, representative of the Italian cultural advisor at the Italian Embassy in Cairo, director Barbara Britten, director and founder of the TIMF Festival in Italy, and the symposium was moderated by writer Ibrahim Al-Husseini.
During the symposium, the first edition of the Tourn International Melodrama Festival was announced, and a cooperation protocol was signed between the Sharm El-Sheikh International Youth Theater Festival and the TIMF Festival.
Raffello Pentangelo, representative of the Italian Cultural Counselor at the Italian Embassy in Cairo, said: “Cultural relations between Egypt and Italy have a long history dating back to the 1950s. Many cultural exchanges took place in those years, because Egypt has many opportunities that made Italy able to present its art well. The Sharm El-Sheikh International Festival for Youth Theater, whose activities began on November 25 and continues until the 30th of this month, and the session bears the name of Dr. Samira Mohsen. The festival is honorably chaired by the distinguished artist Samiha Ayoub, and the festival’s higher committee is chaired by Maestro Nader Al-Abbasi, and it is managed by Dr. Engy El-Bastawi, and it is held under the patronage of Her Excellency the Minister of Culture, Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, and His Excellency Major General Staff Khaled Fouda, Governor of South Sinai.
