Sharjah Documentation calls for preserving the emirate’s history in the “World Archives”

The Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority launches the “You are the Archive” campaign, coinciding with the activities of the World Archives Week, targeting various members of society, to preserve the treasures of the emirate’s history, and to present a realistic and bright image of it by telling its unique story of thought, originality and culture, in a move that restores the link between generations, and consolidates The memory of the homeland is in their hearts and minds.
The campaign reflects the authority’s efforts in collecting and preserving the archives of the Emirate of Sharjah and the state, and enhancing their availability to decision makers and the community, by inviting the public to share the authority with their own documents that enrich the archival balance of the emirate, reflect its past, and advance the course of its present, to push the wheel of its future towards further development, growth and prosperity .
Asma Nasser, Director of Documents and Archives Department, announced that the authority is following the approach of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in adopting the best methods of preservation and documentation, history and archiving, by preserving the history, identity and roots of the emirate, by collecting documents History of all kinds.
She emphasized that the authority is committed to preserving it in a way that guarantees the integrity of its material, intellectual and historical value, and works to provide the necessary protection and the appropriate climatic and environmental conditions for preserving the archive.
The authority renews its call, through the “You are the Archive” campaign, to the need to support community members to enrich the archival balance of the emirate and to share with us their archive, which is a pillar of national memory, and of scientific and historical value that reveals to stakeholders, scholars and researchers the reality of Sharjah society, and the field life that the people of the emirate experienced in previous periods.
