Sharjah Children, affiliated to the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for the Industry of Leaders and Innovators, achieved outstanding results in the global competition for the Virtual Drones Competition (VRAD), following achieving third place globally in the overall tournament held via the virtual platform “Robotify” in the United States of America.
Sharjah Children, representing the UAE, competed in the final competitions of the competition with (3) teams out of the 10 qualified teams from the preliminary qualifiers for the competition, and they were divided into two groups, and their group included teams from Canada and America.
The competition system relied virtually on the use of the “Python” language in programming virtual drones to discover space, specifically the planet Mars, by using sensors to know the locations of certain minerals and obtaining the highest score from the opposing team by extracting more minerals in less time.
It is worth noting that the Sharjah Children’s teams played a series of qualifying matches for the final qualifiers over a period of a month and a half on a weekly basis, during which the children presented an outstanding level as they developed their skills and learned new strategies in the competition.
Noura Ali Al Khader Al Shamsi, Acting Deputy Director of Sharjah Children, said: “We are pleased with the outstanding achievement that Sharjah children have achieved in the competition by obtaining the third ranking globally, and it is only an extension of a series of continuous achievements as a result of well-studied and integrated plans.
Al Shamsi added, “Our preparations for the competition came through an integrated training program presented at the best levels by specialists, in which children learned multiple skills in using the Python language to program and employ aircraft.”
