With the support of donors and in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and state embassies in the beneficiary countries, the Sharjah Charity Society was able to build 4 charitable villages during the past year in Mauritania and Niger at a total cost of 3.2 million dirhams, and the charitable villages provide shelters for the poor and needy to protect them from the heat of the sun in The summer and the cold winter, in addition to the construction of important service facilities such as health clinics, classrooms and water networks in remote areas.

In detail, Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, Executive Director, said that 4 charitable villages were built over the course of the past 2021, as part of the association’s work and projects abroad, in implementation of the directions of the Board of Directors and in accordance with the general plan established, and two villages were built in Mauritania and the same in the Republic of Niger under the supervision of the association’s offices In the two countries, where Mauritanian villages were established to provide 20 homes for the poor with an area of ​​60 square meters per house, an artesian well powered by solar energy with the extension of a water desalination network, which solves for these areas the water scarcity crisis, and a charitable shop, and in Niger, Sheikh Khaled Al Qasimi village was built With the support and funding of the Big Heart Foundation and the implementation of the Sharjah Charitable Society, in the Bengola area, it includes 20 residential homes that were primarily allocated to mothers of orphans who lack suitable job opportunities. For raising livestock, keeping fodder, and a bakery, all of which were equipped with all the necessary basic equipment, to support the needs of the village and enable it to be self-sufficient in providing its primary needs. In addition to building a mosque with an area of ​​81 square meters, a clinic with an area of ​​290 square meters, which provides health care to the residents of the village and the surrounding areas, and an educational school with an area of ​​300 square meters to attract the children of the region, and provide job opportunities for teachers, in addition to an artesian well with the aim of providing drinking water to the residents The village as well as the neighboring areas, while another village was established in Dosso area with the support of the donors of the Sent Wind Program, which includes 10 residential homes, an educational school that includes 6 classrooms with an area of ​​200 square meters, and a project to generate electricity with solar energy to operate the homes and school of the village.

Ibn Khadem pointed out the importance of the Charitable Villages Project in providing an infrastructure of facilities of paramount importance to the residents of remote areas, who are from the class below the poverty line, where they suffer from a lack of housing and important services such as mosques, health and educational centers, and water scarcity, especially in areas hit by drought throughout the year. In the jungles of Africa, and from this point of view and in accordance with the humanitarian objectives that the association applies in its mission, we pay great attention to the charitable villages project, and we always look forward to more cooperation from benefactors who spare no effort or contribute to spreading goodness to all the needy inside and outside the country. He also valued the cooperation of institutions The concerned authorities are represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the UAE embassies and consulates, and the association’s offices, as well as the fruitful cooperation with the Big Heart Foundation, which hastened this cooperation and assigned the tasks of implementing the Sheikh Khalid Al Qasimi village project – may God rest his soul – to the Sharjah Charitable Society, which reflects the depth of channels of cooperation and joint action.
