Mumbai: NCP leader Sharad Pawar has revealed that the BJP had planned to form the government in Maharashtra along with the NCP in 2019. The revised version of his autobiography, ‘Lok Mahje Sanghat’, was released on Wednesday. But the autobiography also says that he told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he was not interested in forming a government with the BJP. The things that happened following 2015 are mainly shared in the autobiography.

“After the assembly elections, there was an informal discussion between the leaders of BJP and NCP amid the uncertainty regarding government formation in Maharashtra. BJP tried to form government with NCP by any means. A discussion was held with some selected leaders for that purpose. But the party was not interested in joining the BJP.

On November 20, 2019, he met with Modi during the winter session of Parliament. It was made clear to Modi that there is no political alliance with the BJP and there will be no government formation. At the same time, a section of NCP leaders were demanding to form the government together with the BJP,” Sharad Pawar wrote in his autobiography.

After the 2019 elections, the BJP formed the government under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis and Sharad Pawar’s son-in-law Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister. But soon the government fell. Then Congress, Shiv Sena and NCP formed the government.
