With all the layoffs happening in the industry lately, it’s a breath of fresh air to see a new studio actually open. Shapeshifter Games is a very new studio, said to be a developer founded by former Volition employees to “Work with world-class developers and publishers to create AAA games”

As the developer’s on LinkedIn pageThat being said, Shapeshifter adds that it “Drawing on a wealth of experience in open world and character action games, while developing some of the industry’s most popular franchises。
TechRaptor First reported the developer, who also added that several Volition executives are taking senior roles at the company, including Matt Madigan as studio head, Rob Loftus as lead producer, and Brian Traficante as franchise creative director.
Beyond that, another employee from another developer did add that Shapeshifter is focused on developing games for consoles using Unreal Engine 5, and serves as a co-developer on projects for Xbox Game Studios. What project this is related to is still unknown.
Considering Volition is one of Embracer’s recent casualties when it shuts down in the summer of 2023, it’ll be great to see so many affected developers back at work.
