Speaking to PEOPLE magazine in November 2023, Doherty shared how working and filming several episodes of the memoir-style podcast Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty saved her from feeling depressed amid her journey through stage four cancer from which he suffered.
“Listen, you see me on a good day. Correctly; But I think the difference I’ve really noticed is that when I’m working and when I’m being creative, there’s no room for depression at all. it fuels me,” he said.
Doherty made her podcast debut, where she talked regarding everything from career highs to her diagnosis and health journey, next month.
In the last episode of the Podcast, the actress stated:
“New episode of @letsbeclearpod on @iheartradio or wherever you listen to podcasts. This is what I’m dealing with right now. #cancer #life,” she wrote in the caption of her post.
“So, you know, for the first time I have no idea how long I’m going to be doing chemotherapy, I have no idea if it’s going to be three months or if it’s going to be six months…” he admitted.
“Treatment is very difficult. It’s not something I can predict. It’s not something my doctors can predict and it’s scary. It’s like a big wake-up call, but at the same time I have to say that there is some positive side, and the positive side is that the molecular structure of my cancer cells has changed recently.
This means there are many more protocols for me to try. So for the first time in two months I feel hopeful because there are now many more protocols. Whereas before I was optimistic, but I was still preparing,” Shannen Doherty tells another point.
Doherty had a mastectomy and underwent chemotherapy and radiation following her initial diagnosis of breast cancer eight years ago.
In April 2017, she revealed on Instagram that she was in remission. But by 2019, her cancer had returned – and she announced her diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic cancer the following year.
The publicist confirmed the actress died in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE on Sunday, July 14.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the death of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, he lost his battle with cancer following many years of battling the disease,” the statement said.
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family requests their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace,” Sloane continued.
