Shanghai Cooperation Organization: Stability in Central Asia is a guarantee of the organization’s security

“Stability and economic development in Central Asia are a guarantee of security and prosperity for the SCO countries. Bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the rest of the SCO countries is welcomed at various levels. We expect the Central Asian countries to make a greater contribution to the development of the SCO and to strengthen exchanges and cooperation within its framework,” he told Kazinform.

He pointed out that Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were among the founding countries of the organization and are active participants in the development of the organization, making significant contributions to deepening cooperation in the organization.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international organization founded in 2001 and includes India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan, while Afghanistan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, the UAE, Turkey and Sri Lanka have observer status in the organization.

The SCO summit will be held in Astana on July 3-4 with the participation of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, China, Mongolia, the UAE, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

The summit will also be attended by the organization’s Secretary-General Zhang Ming and the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres.
