The Shanghai Municipal Health Commission announced this morning (18th): From 0 to 24:00 on February 17, 2022, through the port joint prevention and control mechanism, 13 new confirmed cases of imported new coronary pneumonia were reported. Among them, Case 8 is of Chinese nationality, living in Hong Kong temporarily, entering the Mainland from Hong Kong on February 13, 2022, and arriving in Shanghai by high-speed rail from Zhuhai on February 14. On February 16, following receiving a notification from Guangdong Province for an investigation, they were immediately quarantined and controlled. The nucleic acid test result of the new coronavirus by the city and district CDC was positive. Comprehensive epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and imaging findings, etc., were diagnosed as confirmed cases.

In response, Shanghai issued an official WeChat response saying that the case was a resident of mainland China, who lived in Hong Kong temporarily and entered the mainland from Hong Kong on February 13, 2022. At present, the person has been investigated by the public security organ for the crime of obstructing the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, and his criminal responsibility will be investigated according to law, and his illegal cross-border behavior will be investigated and dealt with together. The case is under further investigation.
