Minutes before the final of the World Cup in Qatar 2022, Shakira sent a forceful message on his social networks, referring to the 26-year-old Iranian footballer, Amir Nasr-Azadani, who was sentenced to death for publicly defending the rights of women and freedoms in his country. The soccer player’s gesture was described as a “treason” throughout the controversial trial, which according to various reports was “loaded with misconduct«.
Shakira He spoke on Twitter in the face of this situation and said:
Today, I just want the players on the field and the world to remember that a named footballer was convicted just for speaking out regarding women’s rights. We hope that there will be more than one minute of silence in our hearts to remember what is important, and more than one voice of solidarity to cry out for justice.
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that Shakira uses his social networks to talk regarding the case of Amir Nasr-Azadani, since on the followingnoon of December 17, the singer uploaded a video of the Argentine actor Rodrigo Rumi questioning the silence of the world, with the following message:
I also think like you. The World Cup, Christmas cannot be more important than human life, women’s rights, and those voices that others want to silence by force. Let’s talk regarding what’s really important or let’s shout together, while we have a voice.
