Shafqat Mehmood’s response to Khawaja Asif’s tweet – Pakistan

Former Federal Minister Shafqat Mehmood has said that it is a matter of honor for me to be attacked by a person like Khawaja Asif. What should be commented on the politics of a person who is still sitting in the assembly even after losing the 2nd election badly?

It should be remembered that yesterday senior politician Shafqat Mehmood announced his retirement from politics on the social media website X (Twitter) and said that 34 years ago today I resigned from government service and entered politics. After much thought I have now decided to retire from politics, to devote the rest of my life to writing and teaching.

He had further said that this decision is neither due to any pressure nor my intention to join any other political party, this announcement is only for separation from politics and it is related to the requirements of time and age. I completely agree with those who say that the youth should come forward in politics.

Former federal minister Shafqat Mehmood has announced to quit politics

After Shafqat Mahmood’s announcement, PML-N leader and Khawaja Asif reacted on X (Twitter) and said that I have known Shafqat Mahmood since 1964, the relationship started with Government Lahore and the hostel and I have 50 years with him. / 55 years of close friendship have also been misunderstandings, during which many good and bad deeds have been collected, bad more and good less.

He said that Imran Khan’s cabinet imposed Article 6 on me, then Shafqat Mehmood held a smoky press conference against me and cited my residence and salary abroad as the reason. And the salary and business were all declared for 30 years, he used to pay tax on them, the inquiry was dealt with, but some people were identified, but it took half a century.

Khawaja Asif said that Shafqat Mahmood’s politics started with the People’s Party, then passed through Musharraf and ended with Shehbaz Sharif and PTI. When he was with Shahbaz Sharif, he kept writing columns against Imran in good English. It is God’s gift to have loyalty and courage in the DNA of the relationship.
