Shadow Man Remastered is available now on consoles

Perhaps you remember this action and platform game released in 1999 on PC, Nintendo 64, PlayStation and Dreamcast. Some Shadow Man, adaptation of the eponymous comics, relatively unknown by us by the way. Well can you imagine that this one was entitled to a remastered version, overseen by Nightdive Studios, a developer who has already served us updated versions of Turok and its sequel, but also preparing a remake of System Shock and a third episode all fresh.

surprise outing

Available from April 15 on PC via Steam and GOG, this remastered version of the mature 1999 classic didn’t make much of a splash. To the point, moreover, that it is difficult to know the quality without obtaining it, because the articles regarding it do not run the web. That said, without going so far as to affirm it, we guess that the title is up to previous Nightdive Studios productions. In other words, a portage vaguely lifted, doing the bare minimum. Anyway, never mind, the Shadow Man of the time was not lacking in qualities, and finding it today may satisfy some, improvements or not.

We can therefore imagine that some were quite impatient to see this remaster land on consoles. But Nightdive did not really communicate on the subject, and hope was to start to dwindle among fans of the title or even the comics. They will no doubt be happy to learn that Shadow Man Remastered is released in total surprise on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As strange as it may seem, the Sony version is displayed at 17,99 euros, vs 19,99 at Microsoft. As for the Nintendo Switch version, it is not yet available at the time of writing these lines.

A good little surprise for console players wishing to discover or rediscover Shadow Man.
