Otis, are you staying with Maeve or Ruby?

Otis ends the series single, as Maeve decided to resume her studies in the United States and Ruby refused to be his friend at the fundraiser.

In the last shot of “Sex Education 4″, the boy finds a letter from Maeve, in which Emma Mackey’s character thanks him for helping her believe in herself and assures him that she will always have a place in her heart. You can read the text below.

“Dear Otis: You know I hate romantic things, so don’t get excited, it’s not a love letter. When we met, I didn’t trust anyone. I thought that if I pushed everyone away, I would avoid getting hurt or disappointed, which I knew well. Then we opened the clinic and I realized that most of those who sought us out wanted a connection. And perhaps it was not the exception.”

“You have a rare ability to make people feel seen. You did the same for me. It was that and your relentless optimism regarding human beings that gave me the courage to open up to other people. For the first time, I didn’t feel alone. You allowed me to imagine a better future. And I want you to know that, as much as it hurts that we can’t be together, I will never close myself once more.”

“Meeting you opened my heart, and it will never be the same. For that reason, I will always carry a part of you wherever I go. What I want to tell you is: Thank you for everything, idiot.”
