Severe Weather Alert: Thunderstorms and Showers Expected – Weekend Forecast

2023-07-28 18:51:46

The sky will be partly to very cloudy Friday followingnoon and evening, predicts the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM). The most generous clearings will be in the northwestern part of the country, which will deal with a low risk of showers. In the southeastern half, the sky will be more threatening with more and more showers over the hours. They will also gradually gain in intensity and may be accompanied by thunderstorms. The seasonal maxima will fluctuate between 20° and 24° under a moderate westerly to southwesterly wind.

Later in the evening and during the next night, a few showers potentially accompanied by thunderstorms are still expected. The signal is once more stronger in the southeastern half of the country, although one or the other episode might be observed elsewhere. In the Ardennes, low clouds may limit visibility. The minima will vary between 14° and 17°.

The IRM placed the provinces of Liège, Hainaut, Namur and Luxembourg in yellow warning code until 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning due to these expected rains.

Until Saturday evening, showers that can sometimes be accompanied by thunderstorms will punctuate our weather forecast. The risk of precipitation will first be more marked in the south-eastern half, before the arrival of a new area of showers by the coast on Saturday morning which will then cross all the regions. The maximum temperatures will be in season on Friday and Saturday (up to 23° or 24°).
