Severe shortage of staff in Moroccan courts raises citizens’ concerns

The Socialist Group (Federal Opposition) in the House of Representatives called for finding solutions to the severe shortage of employees in Moroccan courts, which many clients and litigants complain about due to the delays affecting their interests in the courts.

In a written question addressed to the Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Wahbi, the team revealed that human resources are considered one of the most important pillars of judicial systems, as the quality of the courts’ work requires the presence of sufficient human resources. It is also inconceivable to realize an effective judicial system without the presence of a judicial administration that relies on sufficient and efficient human resources.

However, the team pointed out that the steady increase in the number of cases pending before Moroccan courts does not only require working to increase the number of judges, in order to increase the number of files and cases being decided, but it must also be accompanied by increasing the number of employees in the judicial administration.

The same team stressed in its question signed by MP Abdelhak Amghar the need to strengthen the capabilities of court employees and raise their efficiency to overcome the various problems suffered by clients.

Accordingly, the Socialist Group asked about the procedures and measures that the Ministry of Justice will take to overcome the significant shortage of employees in Moroccan courts and respond to the demands of its clients in this regard.
