Dubai : Restrictions on the carrying of sharp weapons in the UAE.
Carrying weapons such as knives, blades, and hammers other than for professional purposes is punishable by severe penalties. This is stated in the new Penal Code. The new law came into force on January 2 this year under Federal Order No. 31 of 2021.
Only those who work as butchers, carpenters and plumbers who have to use such weapons will now be allowed to carry them. Carrying a weapon is considered a threat to public safety and can result in imprisonment or a fine. Lawmakers say the new law will ensure the country’s security and help prevent crime.
