Severe criticism in the League Working Committee; Kunhalikutty tendered his resignation

Kochi: National General Secretary PK Kunhalikutty was severely criticized in the Muslim League state working committee meeting. State Secretaries KS Hamza, KM Shaji and PK Basheer MLAs have raised criticism.

PK Basheer MLA demanded transparency in Chandrika’s fund. He said that it should be remembered that the community’s money is being used. He said that many collections are being made for Chandrika but the money is not reaching Chandrika. Basheer said that Chandrika cannot be paid completely from the Hadiya fund

KM Shaji’s criticism was that Kunhalikutty is not giving a clear stand on issues that the government is defending, including gold smuggling. The party does not consider the Muslim minority issues. The party did not consider the issue of not giving a holiday. Fund collection and the Chandrika crisis are key for the party. Accounts in Chandrika should be audited by an outside agency. Shaji said that even the state officials do not know the account.

KS Hamza said that the rank and file have doubts as to which front Kunhalikutty is on. Hamza also said that Kunhalikutty is not performing the duties of the Deputy Leader of the Opposition.

Kunhalikutty, who reacted angrily to the criticism, informed the meeting that he was ready to resign. Kunhalikutty said that Sadikhali would not take over the position of Chandrika’s chairman now. They will come to the position only following clearing the financial liability of Chandrika. Kunhalikutty said that at least 10 crores would be needed to settle the liability.

When the members came forward in favor of Kunhalikutty, Sadikhali Thangal intervened and cooled it down. They said that they can be critical but not too much. They ended the meeting by shaking hands with Kunhalikutty and KS Hamza.
