A fire broke out in a coal mine in China’s southwestern Guizhou province.
According to a foreign news agency report, the government of Panzhou city said in a notice issued on its website yesterday that a fire broke out in a coal mine at around 8:10 in the morning. The government notice said that It was initially determined that a conveyor belt caught fire, trapping 16 people, but details of the extent of damage and how the fire started have not been released.
The report said that emergency personnel had brought the fire under control and the temperature had returned to normal, but following initial confirmation, 16 people had no signs of life. Standards have improved but accidents still frequently plague the industry, where such incidents often occur due to poor implementation of protocols.
Last month, an explosion at a coal mine in northern China’s Shaanxi province killed 11 people, nine of whom were trapped inside, while two others died of injuries near the surface of the mine. were
