Several NFL teams have eyed Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh as a potential head coach candidate, sources told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
Harbaugh has been widely linked with a return to the NFL in recent years. He had an interview with the Minnesota Vikings last season but later said he was no longer interested in the NFL and described the process as a “one time thing.”
The 58-year-old coach has led Michigan to two consecutive Big Ten championships. In 2021, the Wolverines had 12 wins before posting a 13-0 record this season. Harbaugh has boasted a 74-24 record since taking office in 2015.
Before joining Michigan, he was the head coach of the san francisco 49ers. In three of his four seasons, he won at least 11 games and made the playoffs. In the 2012 season, Harbaugh led the 49ers to the Super Bowl, where they were defeated by the Baltimore Ravens.
Harbaugh’s contract with Michigan runs through the 2026 season following signing a five-year contract extension in February.
