Several explosions shook the sky this Saturday in the center and east of Tehran, in Iran, when that country’s air defense system began to repel Israeli attacks.
“Right now shots are being heard from the air defense system in the center of Tehran,” reported the Tasnim agency, linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
The Entekhab newspaper published a video in which strong explosions were seen in the sky from what it indicated was “continued defense activity” in the east of the capital.
This would be the second wave of the announced Israeli attack against Iran in retaliation for the bombardment with some 180 missiles on October 1, which in turn was a response for the death of several of Tehran’s allies.
“No missiles or attacks have hit any Guard military base in the west and southwest of Tehran,” said Tasnim, citing anonymous security sources.
“The sounds (of explosions) were due to the actions of the Army’s defense systems in three locations around Tehran against Israeli military action,” he added.
Previously, the Fars agency, also linked to the Revolutionary Guard, had reported that there had been attacks against several military bases in the west and southwest of Tehran, without offering more details.
For their part, Tehran’s relief services stated that there have been no incidents in the capital that require their assistance, while sources at the capital’s two airports assured that flights continue normally.
Israel announced this morning that it has begun attacks against Iranian military targets in response to Iranian actions in recent months.
“In response to months of continuous attacks by the Iranian regime against the State of Israel, the Israel Defense Forces are currently carrying out precise strikes against military targets in Iran,” confirmed a statement from Israeli Army spokesman Daniel Hagari.
