Several arrested after woman’s death in ‘suicide capsule’ – Life & Style

Several people have been detained after a woman took her own life with a ‘suicide pod’ in Switzerland.

It should be noted that Dr. Philip Nitschke has designed the suicide pod (suicide capsule) Sarco, which can be used to kill in two to three seconds without any pain or feeling of suffocation. Dr. Philip has used gases like nitrogen and hypoxia in the capsule.

According to foreign media, the incident is apparently the first of its kind where someone has taken their own life using a suicide pod. The police have arrested several people who may have helped the woman’s suicide.

According to local police, those arrested in the Schaffhausen area have been charged with inciting the woman to commit suicide.

According to reports, the woman died on Monday allegedly using a suicide pod manufactured by the company ‘Sarco’, after which security personnel recovered the suicide pod and the body from the spot.

Switzerland bans use of ‘suicide capsules’

On the other hand, the company that makes the controversial pod says that it can only be used by people who wish to end their lives.

According to media reports, euthanasia is legally permissible in Switzerland in certain circumstances, but the sarcopod has come under heavy criticism.

Dr. Nitschke is known as “Dr. Death” and is also a strong advocate of suicide. Dr Nitschke designed the suicide capsule and his design is available online at no charge.

A candidate for the first use of the capsule had been selected, but the entire project was halted due to the ban. On the other hand, commentators and pro-life groups have condemned the tool, arguing that it glamorizes suicide and undermines efforts to prevent it.

Public prosecutor Peter Stecher warned that anyone using or aiding Sarco could face up to five years in prison. Officials fear the capsule could lead to “death tourism”, attracting people from abroad to end their own lives.
