There have been over 1,400 LEGO Star Wars minifigures, many of which are the same characters over and over again – but some characters are long overdue for a remake.
LEGO Star Wars has a wealth of characters that can serve as inspiration for its minifigure. Some, like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, etc., have been brought up again and again. However, some characters have been ignored for too long – or simply not detailed enough to satisfy the community.
In honor of 25 years of LEGO Star Wars, we’ve nominated seven Star Wars characters who had a minifigure but are in desperate need of a new design. Maybe we’ll see a return of some of these minifigures before the next big anniversary.
Commander Fox
First up is Commander Fox. He may have recently appeared in 2023’s 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship but his design left something to be desired in several areas. The latest minifigure appears to be based on an incorrect design that first appeared in a LEGO Star Wars: Castaways event the same year. The bottom half of Commander Fox’s chest armor and knee pads were white when they should have been red. In addition, CC-1010 is without a camera and has a gray visor instead of a black one.
These small but noticeable features mean that if these details can be fixed – and soon – Fox deserves a moment in the minifigure spotlight.
Monday Mothma
Mon Mothma, who recently reappeared in Disney+’s Andor, only had a minifigure so far. While accurate, it’s pretty simple and, as we Star Wars fans learn more about her early days and subsequent life, seeing her in a new minifigure design is a must-see. Could we be ushering in a new era of Mon Mothma minifigures with next year’s second season of Andor? At least we hope so.
Zam Wesell
Another character who only got a minifigure is Zam Wesell, one of the links in the “man sends a man who sends a bounty hunter who sends a shapeshifter who sends a droid who sends bugs” chain. The shapeshifter bounty hunter makes the most of the double-sided minifigure heads, showing both of the faces she wears in the film. However, we haven’t seen them since 2002 – meaning it’s long overdue for them to be redesigned to match the modern skin-colored look of LEGO Star Wars minifigures, rather than the old-fashioned yellow.
Jango Fett
Jango Fett is rumored to be making a comeback in the form of the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection and perhaps that should mean he should be revived as a minifigure alongside his once-murderous colleague Zam Wesell. His last minifigure was released in 2017 and while it had quite a bit of detail, there was no printing on the arms or the sides of the legs.
As a popular character, a more detailed version would be more than welcome in the LEGO Star Wars community, so let’s hope he’s on the cards for LEGO Star Wars designers to return to.
Queen Amidala
Padme Amidala wears some really great outfits during her time in the prequels, the most extravagant of which is her Queen Amidala outfit with an ornate headdress and flowing skirt. When it comes to her minifigures, however, the focus is more on their sporty attire, with crop tops and lots of combat gear.
We want to see more of Queen Amidala, of whom there has only been one minifigure – and even that is from 2012. Where are the flowy dresses of Naboo? Where are the ceremonial robes? We want more colorful Padmés!
Count Dooku
Count Dooku plays a central role in the Star Wars chronology, but his presence in the prequel films means that he, like many others, is chronically underdeveloped as a minifigure. His 2013 version is pretty accurate, but could do with a modern revival, with all the new printing techniques and design possibilities that brings. With Revenge of the Sith celebrating its 20th anniversary next year, perhaps 2025 will be its year.
General Kenobi
Clone Wars as a Star Wars era is chronically underserved and none other than General Kenobi himself. We only have this wide-eyed minifigure from 2008. Let’s get into the nostalgia because the LEGO Group loves going to the Clones Wars faithful versions of our most beloved war heroes return – but starting with Obi-Wan Kenobi himself.
