Seven dead after wave of violence in Acapulco

ACAPULCO.- The bodies of seven people were found in Acapulco Guerrerowhere an attack on a police station was also reported in the wave of violence that occurred this weekend.

In light of the violent events recorded, the Department of Public Security reinforced “its operational deployment in different priority areas and polygons”, together with elements of the Army and the National Guard.

In addition, state police “strengthened their operational actions and video surveillance in public transportation sites, markets and neighborhoods with high crime rates.”

Seven bodies found in Acapulco

The bodies of seven people were found dead in different parts of Acapulco during the weekend.

Three dismembered bodies were first found inside the trunk of a taxi on Saturday night.

On Sunday, the remains of four people were found in various parts of Acapulco, prompting increased security efforts in the city.

A local media report said the bodies were decapitated.

In social networks Photos of human remains found in the city on Saturday and Sunday have circulated.

Attack on police station

The violence did not stop with the discovery of human remains in various parts of the city, as an attack on a police station was also reported.

According to national media reports, unknown individuals threw three explosive devices at a state police station in Acapulco on Sunday followingnoon, two of which detonated and the third was seized by authorities.

“The explosion caused only material damage, so protocols were immediately activated and the corresponding authorities were notified,” reads a statement from the authorities.

It was not specified what type of objects were thrown.
