Sète: the Regional Health Agency launches the alert for the tiger mosquito

Tiger mosquitoes can carry diseases.

In Sète, as elsewhere in Occitania, they are the hell of our summers and will be under close surveillance this year. The ARS (Regional Health Agency) Occitanie is getting into battle order. Objective, to fight once morest tiger mosquitoes before the large population movements of the summer holidays begin. Because if the winged undesirables have been back in the region for a few weeks now, the massive arrival of holidaymakers, combined with the insect breeding period, presents a health risk.

Chikungunya

So much so that in a press release published Thursday, April 28, the agency recalls that tiger mosquitoes are carriers of many diseases and viruses such as dengue fever, chikungunya or the Zika virus. Hence the importance of activating, according to the ARS, a special prevention and enhanced surveillance plan from May 1 to November 30.
