Sète: The Marcel restaurant retains its star

In the new edition of the 2022 Michelin guide, The Marcel restaurant continues to shine by retaining its star for the 4th consecutive year.

For Denis Martin, new chef at The Marcel restaurant for a year now, keeping this star is a great consecration for him. “It’s a bit special, because it’s a year of transition. It’s only been a year since I took over the reins, so it’s the first year where this star is really mine”, he confides. Indeed, following having been the right arm of Fabien Fage, from the opening of The Marcel in 2018, he will eventually succeed him in 2020. “The whole challenge was there, knowing if the guide’s inspectors were going to appreciate the handover, if I was going to be up to it”adds the young chef.

A double distinction

A challenge highly taken up since on March 22, when the list of restaurants distinguished in the 2022 Michelin guide was unveiled, Denis Martin had confirmation that the star was kept for a new consecutive year. A distinction which is added to that obtained at the end of 2021, when the other very famous guide in gastronomy, Gault&Millau, rewards the chef in the category “Techniques of excellence”. A double distinction which rewards the development of the Sète terroir by the young chef. “What characterizes me is the love of my job, the territory and my team, because it’s a joint work. But it’s also that this year, I focused on the terroir of here, by promoting the local, the Sète producers. Because what I want to share is a family story”he concludes.
