A 30-year-old worker from Ohlsdorf was removing finished pressed veneers from the press at a company in Roitham at around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. The machine had not transported one veneer out properly following the pressing process. The man therefore reached for the workpiece with his hand to pull it out of the open press.
The press closed automatically and trapped the Ohlsdorf man’s left hand. A colleague on the other side of the machine immediately pressed the emergency switch to open the press.
The 30-year-old was treated by the emergency doctor and taken by emergency helicopter to the accident hospital in Linz with serious injuries.
