Recently, during the filming of the new season of The Masked Singer, an incident occurred in which several cars belonging to people present in the studio were damaged. Gerard Joling, who is a panelist on the popular programtalks about it in front of the Shownieuws camera (see video).
“There was a semi-final of The Masked Singer. The recordings were fantastic, the only problem was that about 50 or 60 cars were sprayed with fire extinguishers by vandals,” says Gerard. “During the broadcast it was said: guys, we have a problem.”
He continues: “There are people who had their cars on the seventh floor, there were thirty cars there, but they were also on the seventh and eighth floors. They filmed all the license plates there and all those people left the room. Those cars were of no use to you anymore, because they would stain your paint. It was a drama during the recordings.”

Fortunately for him, Gerard’s car was unharmed. “It was at security, so it didn’t bother me. But I feel terrible for all those people. Those vandals were very young boys of 13 and 14 years old. They sprayed three fire extinguishers. Very sad.”
Gerard previously announced what we can expect from the new season of The Masked Singer. You can see it in the video below:

Gerard Joling about the new season of Masked Singer
Masked Scandal: Fire Extinguishers and Vandals!
Ladies and gentlemen, gather around because we’ve got a right old drama brewing in the world of reality television. Just when you thought The Masked Singer was all about the masks and mystery, it turns out it’s also got a bit of a noir twist involving property damage. Yes, you heard me right! And no, I’m not talking about the quality of the singing!
So, what happened? Well, during the filming of the semi-finals — because apparently, there’s nothing semi about it these days — a group of *upstanding citizens* decided to spray around a bit of chaos. And by chaos, I mean they thought it’d be a top-notch idea to douse about 50 to 60 cars with fire extinguishers. Looks like they took “let’s put on a show” a bit too literally!
Gerard Joling, who is finer than a well-tailored suit and a panelist on The Masked Singer, reported the scene to the press. “There was a fantastic atmosphere for the recordings, the only problem was *well*… the vandalism,” he quipped. Apparently, they had some kids, can you imagine? Young boys of 13 and 14! What were they doing at a television studio? Looking for a chance to audition for a pyrotechnics show, I suppose!
And let’s be real here, we all know how much people love their cars! These poor souls had parked on the seventh and eighth floors of the studio. That’s not just some ho-hum parking garage; that’s like parking it on top of the Eiffel Tower! Only to come out and find every panel of their pride and joy looking like they’ve been caught in a foam party gone wrong.
Can you imagine having to explain that to your insurance company? “Well, you see… I parked it for The Masked Singer, and a bunch of kids decided to use my car as a canvas for their artistic ambitions.” Talk about a tough gig!
But fear not, our dear Gerard was a lucky one. His car survived the fire extinguisher massacre unscathed — all thanks to being parked near security. I mean, if only they had the same luck with wardrobe mishaps, eh? “There was a drama during the recordings,” Gerard lamented, but thank heavens his ride remained shiny and untouched. Let’s all take a moment of silence for the many casualties on the sixth and seventh floors — it’s a tough world out there!
In the end, though, this gives a whole new meaning to ‘the show must go on.’ And as for those young vandals: maybe they should’ve stuck to the usual delinquent hobbies of skateboarding and not, you know, turning cars into confetti. We’re all just glad that Gerard could still strut to his car afterward with his head held high and no paint stains in sight!
What’s Next for The Masked Singer?
As we look ahead to this new season, it seems *The Masked Singer* has a lot cooking — and hopefully less vandalism! Let’s hope they can keep it to just a battle of voices instead of one of wits against mischief-makers. Stay tuned for more laughter and surprises — and for goodness’ sake, keep the fire extinguishers away from the cars! Cheers!
