CCTV footage captured the accident, showing the driver approaching Koning Albertlaan from Mariaheide at high speed. The vehicle first struck the roundabout, then narrowly avoided a light pole, landing in the front yard of a home.

“The iron posts of the fence completely tore the roof of the car,” said a neighbor, who was at home with his children at the time of the accident. Last year, a 12-year-old boy was hit by a car at the same roundabout as he walked home from school.
