Serious accident on the A1: Driver (26) thrown out of vehicle

A 43-year-old Tunisian from Vienna was traveling on the western highway towards the federal capital at around 2:10 a.m. when he collided with the car of a 26-year-old Hungarian from the Grieskirchen district, who was standing across the road in the Pucking area. A driver driving behind him – a 47-year-old Ukrainian – braked sharply, which is why a 37-year-old man from Tajikistan who was following behind was no longer able to stop his vehicle in time and collided with the Ukrainian’s car.

During the collision, the 26-year-old was thrown from the vehicle and ended up lying on the road with serious injuries. After being treated by emergency services, he was taken to the Linz University Hospital. The 43-year-old and the 47-year-old were injured to an unspecified degree and were treated in the Linz accident hospital.

The A1 in the direction of Vienna was completely closed until 5:30 a.m. Traffic on the opposite lane was also completely at a standstill until 4:30 a.m. due to parts lying on the road. The fire brigades from Allhaming and Pucking-Hasenufer were on duty to illuminate the accident site and carry out the clean-up work.

Witnesses reported wrong-way drivers

At around 2.10 a.m. the motorway police received another emergency call: Drivers reported a wrong-way driver in the area of ​​the Haid junction. It has not yet been clarified whether there is a connection with the accident in Pucking. The police are asking witnesses who saw the accident or the wrong-way driver to contact the Haid motorway police on 059133 4133-200.
