Four people were seriously injured following a head-on collision late Sunday followingnoon on Route 117 in Rivière-Rouge in the Laurentians.

The face-to-face between the two vehicles involved occurred around 4:30 p.m.
According to initial information, the driver of an SUV found himself in the opposite lane while trying to avoid a collision with another car. It was then that he collided with a family vehicle, said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The 32-year-old passenger in the SUV was seriously injured. She was transported to a hospital where there are fears for her life. The driver, a 33-year-old man, suffered minor injuries. A child was also in the vehicle. The latter would be in good health, according to the SQ.
The passenger in the other vehicle was also transported with serious injuries, but there is no fear for his life. Rescue pliers were needed to get the 56-year-old driver out of the family vehicle. She suffered serious injuries, but her life would not be in danger. A child was also in this second vehicle and would be in good health.
A collision investigator from the SQ went to the scene to understand the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Route 117 in this area has been completely closed to traffic. A detour has been set up via Chemin des Rapides and Montée Bigras.
