The crossroads formed by the streets of Florbecq and Grand Marais, in Ollignies (in the Lessines-Ath direction) was the scene of a serious accident this Saturday followingnoon, around 2:10 p.m. For a reason that the investigation will have to determine, a van traveling in the direction of Ath collided with a small car which was crossing the crossroads.
Quickly dispatched to the scene, firefighters from the Picardy Wallonia rescue zone had to extricate the two occupants of the car, aged around 30. After cutting the roof and the left side of the vehicle, they extracted the driver and the lady who was in the back.
The slightly injured passenger
The passenger, who complained of pain in the pelvis, was transported to EpiCURA hospital in Ath as a precaution. On the other hand, the driver of the car, whose side suffered the shock, was very seriously affected.
