On Wednesday evening there was a serious accident in Götzis (A), in Vorarlberg, which is regarding five kilometers from the Swiss border. As reported by the state police in Vorarlberg, a ten-year-old boy and his 38-year-old father set out at around 5:35 p.m. in the Banzig area on the access route to the via ferrata via Kapf.
The boy probably slipped due to the wet ground conditions on the trail covered with leaves and soil in the area of the first gully and then fell regarding 100 meters down the gully through rocky terrain.
The boy, who was wearing a helmet, remained lying on a rock plateau regarding five square meters in size. During the fall, according to the police, a stone probably drilled between the helmet and the head, causing the ten-year-old to suffer a serious head injury.
The father climbed down to his son and looked following him while he called the emergency number at the same time. The boy was rescued by the Hohenems mountain rescue service and the crew of a helicopter using dew rescue and flown to the state hospital in Feldkirch (A).
