Serie A: vs. Cesc Fabregas! Motta’s Juventus debut a success

Thiago Motta has celebrated a successful debut as coach of Italian record champions Juventus Turin. Juventus defeated newly promoted Como 1907, coached by former Spanish world champion and European champion Cesc Fabregas, 3-0 (2-0) in their first game.

Motta joined Juventus from Bologna in the summer, replacing the sacked Massimiliano Allegri.

The former midfielder gave 20-year-old Samuel Mbangula, making his professional debut for Torino, the lead (23 minutes). Timothy Weah’s second goal (45+1) was prepared by Kenan Yildiz, who trained with Bayern Munich and now wears the No. 10 jersey and recently signed a contract Extended to 2029.

Andrea Cambiaso made a late addition against Como (90+1) and played last season for second division side Fortuna Ducerdo Yannik Engelhardt of Fortuna Düsseldorf plays for Como.

Previously, Europa League champion Atalanta Bergamo defeated American Lecce 4-0 (2-0) after the first round to take the lead in Serie A.
