It seems like a long time ago, but the DNF with both cars at the opening round in Bahrain must have been quite painful for the team. Did you think at that time that you would one day lead the Constructors?
At that time, we couldn’t have imagined who we are today. The current state of the team is great, but we can’t let our guard down.

With the new regulations coming into force, the RB18 looks very different from the RB16B, but are you struggling to get used to the RB18?
The RB18 is a very different car from previous seasons, but as you can see from the performance and consistency so far this season, I feel pretty comfortable with it.

I have a question about your performance. I know the answer to some extent, but could you tell me the highlights of this season?
It’s still Monaco! It was a dream come true to win Monaco, so it was a great feeling when it came true.

As a team, I think the Emilia Romagna GP in Imola was also a highlight. The team recorded their first one-two finish in six years at this GP. How important was this result to you and the team?
It was a very important win for the team as we failed to get off to a good start, but it’s more important to push in the second half and get more one-two finishes.

There is a lot of gossip about driver contracts in the second half of the season, was it important to get the renewals done before all the hype?
I think it’s very good to have things decided and scheduled in advance and I’m happy with the team I’m working with now. This season is even more familiar. I am happy to be in this team and feel more comfortable than before.

This season has been an unprecedented season with 13 races in the first half. Summer break is finally here, how are you feeling now?
I’m looking forward to taking some time off. The first half of the season was intense, but I can only rest for about a week. After that it’s work again. I have a lot of work to do. After all, the second half should be very intense. You have to keep getting results.

Thank you for your time today. Last question, what would be your score for the first half of this season out of 10?
