Sergio Perez “I could have been on the podium if I had a few more laps” / Red Bull Racing F1 Hungarian GP Final[F1-Gate.com]

Sergio Perez (Red Bull Racing) finished fifth in the final of the 2022 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.

Sergio Pérez, who was disappointing in qualifying as he was eliminated in Q2 in No. 11, came back to life in the final, demonstrating his excellent race pace and quickly placing himself within the podium. In the end, he held off Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and finished in 5th place.

“It feels good to come into the summer break with a strong result,” said Sergio Perez.

“After qualifying, it might have been a less fruitful weekend, but we were able to bounce back and score some points, and it was fun to have a race on par with Mercedes and Ferrari. It was a particularly tricky race because everyone’s tires got cold during the VSC.”

“I might have caught Carlos[Sainz]and George[Russell]and I felt close to them towards the end, so that VSC was a bit unlucky for me as a result.”

“The last stint was really good and with a few more laps I might have been on the podium with Max. It was a recovery for me. I’m glad Max won.”
