The candidate of La Libertad Avanza, Javier Milei, won once more as the most voted in the province of Neuquénby obtaining more than 36,7% of the votes counted until last night. The percentage was lower than the one obtained in the August PASO and was the growth that Sergio Massa experienced is evident of Unión por la Patria, which practically doubled its wealth and consolidated itself in second place with the 31,7%.

Although to a lesser extent, both applicants they dragged down the ballots from their lists of deputies and confirmed the two seats that were at stake for the libertarian representative, Nadia Marquezand for the Peronist Pablo Todero.

“You always want to win or come first. We have the ballot, it is what Argentine society has chosen and we are going to work to choose Milei in November,” said the winner, who competed in the province with the Arriba Neuquén label. Last night he approached a bunker on 55 San Martín Street, in the heart of the capital, following 9:30 p.m. when the official results were already known.

He anticipated that they will do an analysis “of each of the provinces” to see where they might have grown and did not and where they might have expectations for the runoff.

The participation in Neuquén once once more exceeded the national average and was, according to the provisional count known last night, at more than 80,4%. In the PASO it had been 76%.

Milei managed to win in eight of the 16 departments, half of what he had obtained in August. However, she kept some of the largest ones like the Confluencia, Zapala, Añelo, Pehuenches, Lácar and Los Lagos. The remaining eight went to Massa, particularly those in Northern Neuquén and other less densely populated inland areas such as Aluminé, Picún Leufú and Catan Lil.

Election day passed without incident and with only a few common complaints of ballot theft, such as the one reported by Márquez during the morning. Yes, there was an episode in a school in the capital where a young man urinated on the ballots that were in the dark room. He went to table 139 of the Santa Teresa school and ended with the intervention of the federal and criminal police of the Neuquén police.

Behind Milei and Massa, with more than 99% of the votes counted, he was in third place Patricia Bullrich from Together for Change with 20.5%. His performance was only two points below what the alliance had obtained in the primaries (in the sum of its two lists), although in that instance it had reached it to position itself as the second force.

That fall left the current legislator of Together for Change, Francisco Sánchez, unable to renew his position. “We had other expectations and they were not met. The result is very negative for us, very different from the behavior we expected from the electorate,” said the candidate following knowing the first official results.

Fourth place went to Juan Schiaretti from We Do For Our Countrywho arrived last night at a 5,9%. Myriam Bregman of the FIT Unidad obtained the last place in Neuquén with the 5%.

The results of Neuquén in deputies

In the category of deputies, the Neuquén Popular Movementwho competed with his short ticket, also its performance worsened compared to PASO. Last night it barely exceeded 7.6% while in August it had reached 9%. In number of votes, the list that headed Sandro Badilla received almost 21,000 less than the whites.

Very close to the provincial party was also the list of the FIT Unit which had Angélica Lagunas as a candidate for deputy. She reaped a 6,7%.

In the category of Mercosur parliamentarianthe victory went to the former councilor Fabricio Cascino, who was on the Arriba Neuquén list accompanying Milei’s formula. He will replace Ramón Rioseco, who held that seat since 2015 for the Frente de Todos.

The MPN and Community once morest the runoff

With the open ballot scenario, it remains to be seen what position the political forces that were left out will take and if there will be calls to vote for one candidate or another. Among them we must count, in the province, the MPN and Community, the space of the elected governor Rolando Figueroa who remained “neutral” in last night’s election.

In any case, the recovery that Massa experienced in Neuquén It probably has a lot to do with the work that the candidate himself did in the province and the structure lent to him by the provincial government (the current one and the next one), along with the unions.

“Sergio Massa He is the only one who will defend Vaca Muerta for Neuquén“, so that no one thinks that it is going to be sold and that YPF is going to be privatized,” said Todero yesterday, the deputy elected by Unión por la Patria, who celebrated that the Peronist alliance increased ten points with respect to PASO, while La Libertad Avanza dropped five and Together for Change stagnated.

He also indicated to RÍO NEGRO Diary that he is going to look for the MPN and the Community to work in favor of his candidate in the runoff (see page 14) and discounted that the votes of Together for Change “are going to go to Massa.”
