Catalan midfielder Sergi Roberto has extended his contract with FC Barcelona until June 30, 2024, the Blaugrana club announced in a press release on Friday, specifying that the release clause was set at 400 million euros.
The previous contract of this versatile player born in Reus, Catalonia, expired next June. He therefore extended for a season at Barça, short winner of the clasico once morest Real Madrid 1-0 Thursday evening at the Bernabéu in the first leg of the Copa del Rey.

Sergi Roberto (31) started football in Santes Creus, one hundred kilometers south of Barcelona, then joined La Masia, Barça’s prestigious training center, from the age of 14, following a short detour through the Nastic Tarragona club.
Integrated into the professional team from 2010, Sergi Roberto has only ever known Barça in his professional career. This season, he is one of the vice-captains, but has been little used by Xavi: he has only started thirteen times since the start of the year.
He has been international with Spain on eleven occasions, but if he seems to have moved away from the selection in recent months: his last call-up dates back to the final phase of the Nations League 2021, where he played seven minutes once morest Italy in the semi-finals before sitting on the bench for the final.
