A former member of the legendary group “Hands Up!” suffered a bereavement. Alexey Potekhin. On September 6, at the age of 37, the lead singer of his Potekhin Band project, Sergei Bogdanov, with whom he performed following breaking up with Sergei Zhukov, passed away. According to the musician, his colleague’s body might not cope with complications from pneumonia.
“I met Sergei Bogdanov back in 2008,” Potekhin said. – I was doing the Potexinstyle project then. I was putting together a disco at Metelitsa on Arbat. And Sergei, together with my current director Anatoly Bobarykin, came to me with their songs. I even included one of them in the collection. And in 2018, I needed a soloist for the Potekhin Band project. “There is one guy here,” they told me. “He sings well.” It turned out that this was Bogdanov, whom I already knew. I invited him. And we toured together for five years.
Sergei was once a fan of “Hands Up!” I knew all the songs by heart. Performed them live. And even outwardly he was somewhat similar to Zhukov.
“It was a pleasure to work with Bogdanov,” Alexey recalls. – But, unfortunately, Sergei had a weak body. What ailments there were, they all stuck to him. A little bit of air blows and immediately the cough and throat hurts. I had to keep an eye on him so that he – God forbid! – didn’t eat ice cream or anything cold. As luck would have it, we didn’t keep track…

Sergei fell ill with pneumonia. There were complications. The lungs were not working well. He began to choke.
“And his heart was blocked,” Potekhin added. – Serezha was overweight. I needed to lose 30-40 kilograms. The body simply mightn’t cope… Now I’ll look for a new soloist. I don’t sing myself. I just write songs. In principle, there are a lot of soloists. But they are all with their cockroaches. It takes time to find someone like Bogdanov.
Sergei Bogdanov was buried at the Ermolinsky cemetery in Veliky Novgorod.
