Mikhail Sergachev agreed a new long-term contract with “Tampa”.
The 24-year-old Russian defender has signed an eight-year deal with the Lightning that will see him earn an average of $8.5 million a year.
The total amount of the deal is $68 million.
Sergachev’s new contract will come into effect in a season – from the 2023/24 championship. Then the Russian will become the highest paid defender of Tampa, ahead of Victor Hedman (his cap hit is 7.875 million). In the upcoming season, the cap-hit of the Russian will be $4.8 million.
Sergachev has been playing for the Lightning since the 2017/18 season. He won two Stanley Cups with the team (2020 and 2021).
Last season, the defender scored 38 (7 + 31) points with a plus 5 utility in 78 regular season games NHL. In the playoffs, he has 10 (2+8) points with a plus 7 utility in 23 games.
