SERENA Williams is recovering after surgery to remove a benign branchial cyst on her neck.

The 23-time Grand Slam women’s singles champion, who turned 43 last month, opened up about her health problems recently in a series of posts on social media.

The former tennis player revealed he first discovered the lump last May and underwent an MRI to find out the diagnosis.

After doctors told him he didn’t need to remove the cyst if he “didn’t want to,” the lump “kept getting bigger,” until it was the size of a “small lime.”

Further testing — including a biopsy — was performed, and doctors thought the cyst was still benign, but Williams ultimately decided against it
picked it up.

“So this is what I picked up. I feel very grateful, and lucky that everything went smoothly, and most importantly I am healthy,”
said Williams while showing a video of himself in a hospital bed.
