Simona Halep is banned for four years for violating the doping regulations.Serena Williams, who lost the 2019 Wimbledon final once morest the Romanian, appears on fans. We have put together some reactions.
Former world number one Simona Halep has been banned for four years by an independent court for violating the tennis anti-doping program. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (Itia) announced this on Tuesday.
The two-time Grand Slam tournament winner gave a positive sample while taking part in the US Open in August 2022. The banned substance roxadustat, which was included in the World Anti-Doping Agency’s 2022 banned list, was found on her.
Halep had always protested her innocence and explained the positive doping sample by saying that she had been a victim of contamination. She doesn’t want to accept the ban. “My fight continues,” she writes on her Instagram account and posts a longer document in her defense.
Serena Williams follows suit
The American tennis player Serena Williams, who retired in 2022, is completely unimpressed by this. The condemnation of her former opponent apparently upset her.
The 41-year-old writes on the X platform (formerly Twitter): “Eight is a better number.” Williams is referring to the 2019 Wimbledon final, which she lost to Halep 2:6, 2:6. It would have been her eighth triumph on the hallowed turf in London – and her 24th Grand Slam title, which would have put her on a par with Australian record winner Margaret Court.
Williams shares opinions on social media with her post. She is criticized primarily because Halep’s violations in no way relate to the year 2019 or the Wimbledon final at that time. “She’s just looking for excuses” or “a completely unnecessary comment” write tennis fans.
Having class is better, but you wouldn’t know.

Serena Williams is allowed to throw all the shade because she has been the subject of doping rumors for years and never once tested positive. Hell, she has undergone random drug tests more than any of her peers.
(And stop calling Halep her rival. 24 to 2 is not a rivalry.) https://t.co/6fEtsiTblX
