This year’s Met Gala is dedicated to fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019. The robes of the stars honor the fashion designer, who was best known as the head designer of Chanel, but also worked for the houses of Fendi and Balmain. Around 150 works by the Hamburg-born designer will be on display in the New York Metropolitan Museum in Central Park in the exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” – including a replica of the desk and numerous pieces of clothing he designed. The exhibition opens with the Met Ball.
