Serdar Gözübüyük will take charge of the match between Benfica and Atlético Madrid in the group stage of the Champions League on Wednesday, October 2. Rob Dieperink is VAR at Aston Villa – Bayern Munich.
Benfica and Atlético have both started well in the Champions League. Benfica won 1-2 at Red Star Belgrade – partly thanks to a goal by former Feyenoord player Orkun Kökcü. Atlético won 2-1 at home against RB Leipzig.
Gözübüyük is assisted in Lisbon by an almost entirely Dutch team. Erwin Zeinstra and Johan Balder are the assistant referees. Richard Martens is the fourth official, Pol van Boekel the VAR and the German Benjamin Brand the AVAR.
