Serang Regency Prepares Bonuses for Athletes with Achievements at PON 2024

The Serang Regency Government (Pemkab) has prepared a special bonus for athletes from the region who excel in the multi-event championship, the 2024 National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh and North Sumatra (Sumut).

This was conveyed by the Regent of Serang, Ratu Tatu Casanah when releasing athletes, officials, coaches, trainers and assistant coaches for PON 2024 at the Serang Regent’s Pendopo, Thursday (22/8).

“As a form of appreciation, we are ready to provide bonuses for athletes. That is appreciation and motivation for athletes who have fought,” said Tatu.

He also gave a message to the athletes who will compete to prepare mentally and optimistically to win. Because confidence is the capital of victory and athletes must be able to prepare a strong mentality.

“Based on the KONI Chairman’s report, there are 18 athletes participating in 13 sports from Serang Regency who will participate in PON,” said Tatu.

Tatu also appreciated KONI Serang Regency, with the addition of athletes, previously only eight participated, but in this year’s PON there were 18 athletes.

He admitted that he would continue to strive to fulfill the needs of facilities and infrastructure (sapras) for training athletes in Serang Regency.

“From the beginning, we have wanted to have our own area for athletes to train, although not all at once, but it can be done gradually for several sports, so they will be more focused on training,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of KONI Serang Regency, Agus Irawan said, the 18 athletes from Serang Regency who were sent to take part in the 2024 PON will hopefully become the mainstay of gold medal winners for Banten Province.

There are 13 sports that are participated in, including muaythai, wushu, kick boxing, weightlifting, sailing, billiards, cricket, football, futsal.

“Our mainstay sport is muaythai, Mia Amalia, at the Papua PON yesterday, she won a gold medal, then Isnawati also won bronze, then there are billiard athletes too,” he said. (Z-6)
