Ben Youssouf Keita, a former member of the political bureau of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG), is expected to take the stand this Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the criminal court of Dixinn to testify in the trial of the massacres of September 28, 2009.
Dr Ben Youssouf Keita decided to break the silence following being asked by the magistrates of the court. He is the third politician following Bah Oury and François Louceny Fall to be a member of the organization of this demonstration once morest the candidacy of the president of the National Committee for Democracy and Development (CNDD) of Captain Moussa Dadis Camara. He explains that the idea of testifying came following his media appearance with our colleagues from Djoma on the show “We remake the world”, on March 29. The president of the Alliance for Change and Progress (ACP) says he is one of the eyewitnesses.
“I was a key player and eyewitness, so I explained what I saw, what happened. And this is how I was contacted by the magistrates in order to go and testify at the bar, if possible. I immediately gave my consent,” he said.
He reiterated that this willingness to testify aims to honor the memory of all the victims who fell before him and especially what his family suffered. The doctor Keita also reveals that his wife is one of the 109 women who were abused at the September 28 stadium: “It is to honor those who died in front of me, with whom we went together to defend democracy. They did nothing to deserve death just like me who gave nothing to God to continue living. On the one hand because of their memory I would like to testify. On the other hand, my wife and child suffered. To also honor their fight, I agreed to testify freely. »
Reached by telephone by our editorial staff, Me Amadou DS Bah, one of the lawyers for the civil party in this trial, confirmed the appearance of the political leader on Tuesday. “He will testify tomorrow morning,” confirmed the lawyer.
