Exactly five years ago in Pyongyang, President Moon Jae-in and Chairman Kim Jong-un announced the September 19 Pyongyang Joint Declaration.
The idea is to abolish the Dongchang-ri engine test site and connect the railways and roads between North and South Korea.
Also included were the Kaesong Industrial Complex, Mt. Geumgang tourism, a permanent meeting center for separated families, and jointly hosting the 2032 Olympics.
There was also the ‘9.19 Military Agreement’ to stop all military hostilities targeting the other side.
However, very little of the joint declaration has been kept.
There are also recent claims that the September 19 military agreement should be scrapped.
At the September 19 Joint Declaration ceremony held today (19th), former President Moon called for compliance with the military agreement, calling it the “last safety pin” to prevent military conflict between North and South Korea, and said that we must break away from the fabricated myth that the conservative government is better for the economy and security. It hit the government directly.

Former President Moon Jae-in chose the 5th anniversary commemoration of the September 19 Pyongyang Joint Declaration as his first official event since leaving office.
He said that inter-Korean relations have collapsed to the point where one wonders when such a day has ever happened, and that it is unfortunate and complicated.
He said, “Peace is economics,” and claimed that both security and economic performance were significantly better under the progressive governments led by Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, and Moon Jae-in.

Former President Moon selected the inter-Korean military agreement as the most important achievement of the September 19 Pyongyang Joint Declaration.
It was defined as the first concrete arms control agreement signed between North and South Korea.
He emphasized that thanks to the military agreement, there was not a single military conflict between South and North Korea during the Moon Jae-in administration, and no one was sacrificed as a result.

We have made our opposition clear to the frequent claims that the September 19 military agreement should be scrapped.
The Yoon Seok-yeol government’s position is that if North Korea invades its territory again, as in the case of a drone moving south of the Military Demarcation Line, it may consider suspending the effectiveness of the September 19 military agreement.

North Korea has violated the September 19 military agreement a total of 17 times over the past five years, including firing a missile toward Ulleungdo in November of last year.
