The tension was almost unbearable for Sepp Straka, but in the end the Austrian golf pro might breathe a sigh of relief. Thanks to a strong last lap, the Viennese managed to qualify for the final of the PGA Tour next week in Atlanta. There, the top 30 in the FedEx Cup can tee off at the Tour Championship. After the BMW Championship (37th place), Straka ranked exactly 30th behind Jordan Spieth and is therefore just regarding among the absolute golf elite.
Going into the final day, the odds were slim following three mediocre laps, but Straka was in top form on the last lap, especially on the front nine with five under par. In the end, the 30-year-old played a 66 (4 under), a bogey on the 18th hole made him tremble for a long time. When last remaining rival Denny McCarthy missed the last hole birdie he needed, Straka was all set.
