Mumbai: A young man hacked his estranged wife to death. The murder was accused of not following religious rites and not giving away his son.
This is what the police say regarding the incident: Rupali, a young woman belonging to the Hindu religion, married a young man named Iqbal Sheikh in 2019. With this, the young woman changed her religion and adopted the name Sarah. They had a son in 2020. Thirty-six-year-old Iqbal is a taxi driver. Iqbal Sheikh’s family forced the girl to wear a burqa. This caused a rift in their relationship. Later, the woman moved with the child.
On Monday, he called the woman to discuss the matter of divorce. They met around 10 pm. There was a dispute regarding the release of the child. Iqbal then dragged the woman to the alley and stabbed her several times with a knife. The woman died on the spot.
