The Spanish Society of Pulmonology and Thoracic Surgery (Separ) has provided a new team of erespiratory functional examination to the Health Area of La Palma. Specifically, it is a plethysmograph, a state-of-the-art device present in the most important hospitals in Spain and that allows precise respiratory diagnostic tests to be carried out in just two minutes.

Committed to the health of the population and to the health professionals of La Palma, Separ Fundación Respira, through SeparSolidaria, delivered this Monday to the Pneumology Unit of General Hospital of La Palma of this equipment donated by the Spanish medical equipment marketer Hospital Hispania and the manufacturing company, Jaeger-Vyasis.
What tests can be done with the plethysmograph?
The new equipment will allow diagnostic tests such as spirometriesthe capacity of lung Diffusion, lung volumes and airway resistance, among other tests that will allow, for example, to know exactly what CO2 deficits the studied lung has. It is also useful for diagnosing cardiovascular pathologies.
During the delivery ceremony of this equipment were present, Conrado Domínguez Trujillo, director of the Canary Islands Health Service of the Government of the Canary Islands; Mercedes Coello, manager of the General Hospital of La Palma; Pedro Rodríguez, vice president of thoracic surgeon at Separ; and Raquel Rodríguez, pulmonologist at the General Hospital of La Palma and member of Separ.
