Seoul Reaches MICE Hall of Fame, Honored as Top Destination for a Decade
Seoul’s reputation for hosting stellar meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions has once again secured a top international award.
Taken together, these four facets of travel are known as MICE, a sector where Seoul recently provided further evidence of its excellence. The city has been named the Best MICE City for the 10th consecutive year by global travel magazine Global Traveler. This win, announced Monday by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, has seamlessly propelled Seoul into Global Traveler’s Hall of Fame, recognizing its decade-long consistently high performance. Around 300,000 people participated in the voting process for the award.
The continuous influx of major international events like this year’s League of Legends World Championship and SeoulCon, has dramatically boosted the city’s global visibility.

The title follows a string of successes for Seoul, with Trazee naming the city as Favorite Worldwide City for three consecutive years. Additionally, In Macau, it was recognized as Best Exhibition City in Asia at the M&C Asia Stella Awards, held this year. This reinforces Seoul’s position as a leading MICE destination within Asia and beyond.
Seoul’s strong performance comes from a combination of strategies.
“With Seoul gaining global attention for its trendiness, driven by K-pop and K-food, it has also earned a reputation as an attractive destination for MICE tourism,” Kim Young-hwan, Director General of the city’s Tourism and Sports Bureau.
The city has proactively engaged in a dual domestic and international marketing campaign, constantly hosting and subsidizing MICE events through a dedicated program named Plus Seoul.
